Technology….Isn’t it Wonderful

I am trying to get “caught up” on all the ways to keep in touch with everyone.  I started with a MySpace page, mainly to keep an eye on Catherine, my 14 yr. old.  I found a lot of friends there too, but I just didn’t have the time to constantly update my site as some of the others seemed to.

Then I found Facebook.  I like it much better.  Not as much stuff going on and pretty straight forward.  I found more contacts from high school and relatives here so I get to keep in touch much more.  I also like it because my phone supports it and I can check it anytime, anywhere I have my cell phone.

Which brings me to text messaging.  I love this.  With my depression, I have days I don’t want to deal with people.  With text messages I can send or receive a quick note and send/get a reply and be done with it.  I do it so much I had to get a phone with a keyboard on it!  So between texting and Facebook….I think my phone is indispensible.

Now on to Twitter.  Tweeting is something new to me and I’m still getting the hang of it.  Basically it’s like little status updates from everyone you follow.  It can be corporations, friends, local papers, musicians, actors, ets.  I follow 13 people right now, but that’s because I know there are more out there to follow…just haven’t found them.  I was in a breakout session about blogging just today and she said that after 6 months of Twitter she finally got it.  Guess there is hope for me!  I did find GFWC on there at womenvolunteers.

I haven’t even covered the other blogs and journal…which frighten me.  I know there are privacy settings, but putting my deepest thoughts out on the web for people to see…..I’m just not too sure about that.  I figured this would be a good start to check it out.

So if you want to find me…check these out:

AIM name:  aelee69

Twitter name: alee93

Facebook: Amee Lee

I do have my privacy settings on most of these, but put in the message that you are with GFWC and I’ll be sure to add you.

How about Windows Live Messenger? I don’t do my AIM very often at all… but my Messenger starts up when Windows does. AIM-kaerb, MSM=silverfinns, Facebook=Karen Erb.

I hope everyone reading this is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Facebook group. For those of you who don’t know, Nikki Willowby at GF Headquarters in Washington, DC the the force behind this blog. She put it together and put together a Facebook group for allllll our GF members.

The thing I like best about Facebook is I have connected with over 50 of my former students. I had a long teaching career, and now I know what has happened to some of those wonderful kids. And I get to see pictures of their kids, and some grand kids too.

I am a retired teacher and grandmother and have just joined Facebook. Talk about a new world!! I do well to use my computer and record my favorite shows on the DVD/VHS player. Yeah, I said VHS. Maybe I can get my grandchildren tol help me catchup to the 21st century.

I’m glad you found Facebook Amee, because you are endlessly entertaining! I think it’s a wonderful way to reconnect with people. My best friend from high school is now on and we normally only talk on birthdays. Cousins too, whom I haven’t seen in years. I think it’s great!
