Baubles and Bubbles

Every year Junior Woman’s Club of Columbia hosts an annual fundraiser for Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter.  Our annual event for the last few years has been “Baubles and Bubbles”.  Held at the Hilton Hotel, it includes catered food from Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, a silent auction and a champagne diamond drop.  It is such a terrifically fun event!

This year I had the pleasure of serving on the event committee.  After months of meetings, donation solicitation and planning, we held Baubles and Bubbles on February 19, 2009.  We sold 300 tickets to the “ladie’s only” event and everyone had a wonderful time!

The numbers won’t be announced until our year end Awards and Installation Banquet in a few weeks, but it appears to be close to $20,000 for the shelter!

(I have tried to upload photos for you to see, but unfortunately it keeps telling me the files are too big!!)

Melanie I download photos into Picasa [free google program] that I want to post here and e-mail them back to myself and save the now smaller pictures with a distinct name. Somehow they come out small enough to post. I do not know why, it’s mystery.

One way to “optimize” the size of your files…download Picasa from Google. It will catalog all the pictures on your hard drive, so let it run for awhile when you start it the 1st time.

Once your pictures are in it, you can export the pictures and make them very small, if you want.

It’s one of the easiest picture editing software packages I’ve found, and it’s free!
