Julie Gibbs, MD GFWC President presents me as the LEADS representative from Maryland

I just made my reservations for the GFWC National Convention in Cleveland and look forward to meeting many of you there! This is my first GFWC convention and I’d appreciate any tips you “old-timers” might have.

I’m also excited that I was chosen as the LEADS candidate for the State of Maryland. This program sounds great and I look forward to finding out more about the GFWC organization. I’ve heard from a few LEADS graduates who plan to attend the LEADS breakfast on Saturday morning, but if you’ll be there please look me up!

Finally, just a note to my Maryland Federation friends — many thanks for your vote of confidence in naming me the LEADS candidate. I promise to take good notes and share whatever I learn!

Sharon!

Congrats, Miss Maryland 2009 LEADS!!

Be prepared to have one of the greatest experiences as a LEADS candidate on your day in Cleveland. During LEADS and at the GFWC Annual Convention, there will be opportunities to participate and network with Club women having some very interesting experiences and ideas to share about GFWC and their Club work.

Take your camera to record those special moments with your new friends!

After your LEADS graduation, try to notice Club women wearing the LEADS pin at the GFWC Annual Convention and then say “hello”! Be sure to attend the LEADS breakfast and then the morning session when LEADS graduates are recognized in the main gathering.

How wonderful it was to interact with the LEADS candidates from 46 states in my LEADS class! They are Terrific Ladies-Future Leaders-Dedicated Club women! The energy and passion to promote and preserve GFWC expressed by the LEADS on my day lead us to do a class project across the miles on GFWC Federation Day the next year. Also, it is fun to look for each other at future GFWC Annual Conventions and GFWC Region events.

Welcome, Miss LEADS!

Peggy, Miss Illinois 2007 LEADS

Congratulations!
I remember my first convention. I was wide eyed. Actually it was in Ohio too, in Cincinnati, years ago. I was a young mother, and just arranging all the child care and activities was a feat. But I went to support a state clubwoman who ran for National Junior Director, Sandi Jones, and she won! It was spectacular with Proctor and Gamble sponsoring many things, in particular, some SOAP star entertainment on the Ohio State Night. I shared a room with two women from my state who I barely new. What fun we had and the hotel was so beautiful! The speakers were great and I really felt a part of something bigger ……GFWC, a National Organization and a club woman from NH rather than just my club at home.

Now I’m really getting excited! The more I hear about LEADS — the more excited I get. Last week I was able to find a room in the Renaissance — not an easy task! Now I’ll be in the middle of the action and not miss a thing! Since I’m originally a Cincinnati (OHIO) girl I’ll be celebrating the Ohio rock ‘n roll night with all my fellow Buckeyes. I got my dancin’ shoes packed and in a few weeks I’ll be ready to go!!

Sharon
Congrats on your LEADS appointment! I’m surprised you got any responses on Convention, putting out the word to any “old-timers” (we in Illinois call them “seasoned members”) ;-)

You’ll have a great time! Come ready to learn lots, meet like minded people and have fun! Our LEADS candidates always come back ready to make a difference – hope you find the experience rewarding.

Hi Sharon!

It was a pleasure meeting you on the shuttle to Convention and seeing you throughout the event. I hope you enjoyed Convention as much as I did. Look forward to seeing you in Bethesda in October! Take care!

Lori :)
