Our state convention was last weekend. I really want to tell you about one of the greatest centerpiece ideas I’ve ever seen. Our state motto is “GFWC Greatest Jewels.” It means the members are the grestest jewels, but we’ve been using rubies, diamonds, saphires, and pearls as themes all year. One of our banquets used old jewelry boxes as centerpieces. They were beautiful and filled with many pieces of old, sparkly jewelry. Set on a mirror, the centerpieces lit up the room.
We had lots and lots of fun and learned a great deal. Rose Ditto and Missy McCoy joined us for our GFWC Illinois convention in the Chicago suburbs. Conventions are such a wonderful way to renew friendships and to make new friends! My club won a LOT of awards…hooray Antioch Woman’s Club!

Go Winfield Jrs of District 5 – homeys! They were really excellent centerpieces, mostly thrifted. They are a very small club and were a little overwhelmed by the task, but once they got into it, they outdid themselves. Kudos to them. Convention was a lot of fun!

Thanks Karen for a great summary of our convention. I will agree that the Opening Luncheon Centerpieces were outstanding. I think we may even have a entry for the jeweled box contest for next year.
Many Thanks to Winfield Jrs. for being the hostesses for the luncheon.
Off to Cleveland!

The boxes were great, neat, different and so in tune with the theme of our president. Learned that we can do much with so little if we think and work as a team.Pat

Way to go, Karen. I loved the decorated jewel boxes, too. They were so cleverly done. I loved the centerpieces at the Federation Banquet that Pat Heitman and District 11 put together. It was a great convention with lots of proposed bylaw & resolution amendments to vote on. We had super speakers and wonderful entertainment. The Jesse White Tumblers were outstanding. Debbie Strahanoski, Teresa Sanford and Bonnie Heydorn did outstanding jobs it making it what it was.

Thanks, Karen! Jewel boxes were brilliant, as was all of the center pieces at convention, which were made by a great group of Crown Jewels. The convention was well planned and organized. It is always soooo much fun to see and visit with Federation Crown Jewels.
I really enjoyed the Jesse White Tumblers. They were like sparkling diamonds. Thanks Debbie, Teresa and Bonnie.
